1792 English Sterling Silver Engraved 5.5" Tongs by Smith & Hayter

* * * *   CLASSIC ENGLISH TONGS DATED 1792    * * * *
For sale is an antique English solid sterling silver pair of sugar tongs
made by George Smith II and Thomas Hayter circa 1792.  These classic
tongs are 5-1/2" long and weigh 34 grams.  Most of the hallmarks
can be read; the maker's mark of George Smith and Thomas Hayter is
confirmed in the Arthur G. Grimwade book on English hallmarks, mark
number 909 shown on page 74.
They are in very nice used condition given their age; monogrammed
in a very 18th Century style as seen in the photos.
