19th C. Kirk REPOUSSE Sterling Silver Over-Sized Creamer & Sugar, 875 grams

This listing is for a FABULOUS 19th Century American S. Kirk & Sons REPOUSSE Sterling Silver RARE over-sized hand chased creamer and lidded sugar in a the beautiful all-over repousse floral design that was introduced in 1828. The sugar has a lion's head on each side holding a hanging ring in his mouth. The lid is fitted with a tall lily type flower as the handle. Both pieces are mounted above wide oval pedestal bases. There is a cartouche on one side of each piece engraved with faint illegible 3-letter monograms. Marked with the "S. Kirk & Sons, 11 OZ" stamp that was used from 1861-1868. This large creamer and sugar were most likely a custom made set for a wealthy family in the 3rd quarter of the 19th Century.
Creamer measures 8 1/2" high and 5 1/2" wide.
Sugar measures 9" high and 6" wide.
Combined weight is 875 grams.
The silver has great original patina, exquisite details and is in very good to excellent Estate
condition. We found no flaws on the lidded sugar, however, there is a dent at the top of the handle on the creamer (see photos).  No other noted flaws.
This impressive set is definitely an investment item of heavy Sterling Silver and is one that you will be proud to own, display and use!
