    Description

    Up for sale is an antique, late 1800s Bacchante/Baccante cameo brooch. It is hand carved lava, set in 14k solid gold. The gold will clean up better if desired- I did not clean it at all. The cameo is a high relief, full figure (down to hips) young woman/Maenad carrying grapes in her apron. It measures about 2.25" in length, 2" in width and the highest point of the cameo is over .5" high. There is what I believe to be a chip in her sleeve, but from facing forward, you don't notice it. I added a photo with an arrow on the area. The gold is not stamped, but I tested it in multiple ways and it is 14k. It really is a beautiful brooch and even more so in person than in the photos.
