CHEERY ANTIQUE VICTORIAN CAMEO SWIVEL LOCKET, BROOCH MAENAD, 14K GOLD

Cheery antique Victorian cameo swivel locket with a lovely presentation of
a Maenad, follower of Dionysus, god of wine. They were considered joyful
harbingers of good times. Beautiful detail on the profile, very rich rendering
with the signature grape leaf crown, lovely face, and a strapped gossamer
gown that seems to be moving in the breeze.  Swivel lockets were quite
popular, as the “other side” was frequently used for mementos like a lock of
hair or a photo. Great colors of cocoa and marshmallow. Bezel set in frame
with large twisted border, each turn with an accent embellishment.
Mount tested 14K.
