You know, I'm old.  I mean, really, I can remember when there was only 26 of these shells in the entire world.  I also can remember that while visiting the Philippines as a kid (thirteen at the time?) a photo was taken of me holding TWO
gloriamaris
, and people got so excited about the photo it ended up in a
Hawaiian Shell News
article...  Then the day came when we heard that someone
snorkeling
in the Solomons had found half dozen, that 's right, half a dozen!  And he KEPT ON finding half a dozen

almost every time he went out, the lucky beach bum!

anyone
can own one, even you, but
gigantic
ones like this are still on the
very
hard-to-find list.  This gorgeous shell is the middle-sized one of three
gloriamaris
that I am about to list, (the next one is ultra-gigantic, 10mm larger than the 1973 world record shell was) has a terrific pattern, nice dark color, an unworn spire, a great lip, and a body that is in gorgeous condition considering its size!  And even though it does have a repair near its mouth, it still has that magical something that says that this gigantic baby is a one-of-a-kind
Glory of the Seas.

As for normal disclaimers, we do the best we can with photos, but color is tricky, especially since cell phone cameras automatically lean towards flesh-tone coloring, (that's why so many of the photos of shells on eBay show up with more orange than is really there, the camera changes the color, and damm if I can figure out how to stop that from happening, but I try, honest!
