Glorious BIG Antique 10K Gold Cameo Seed Pearl Ring Goddess Selene XLNT Setting

Both the front and back of this lovely ring are impressive! The beauty of the cameo on the front is matched by the wonderful arches design across the back of the setting--lovely and unusual (golden arches!).
The subject of the cameo is Selene, the
Greek
goddess of the moon, crowned with a crescent moon. Well carved by a skilled artist. Circling the large cameo is a ring of large seed pearls strung on a wire and separated with gold or gold-filled rondelles.
The inside of the band is marked 10K, no maker's mark. Measures 1.25 inches tall, 1 inch wide and 1 inch deep from face of cameo to back of band. Pearls are 3 mm in diameter. The entire ring weighs 15.4 grams.
Another unusual aspect of the construction here: the gold brought up around the front edge of the cameo was simply pressed down into place and left that way. I believe this would usually be crimped off, but here it wasn't. Good news: you get more gold this way! I have seen one or two other rings using this technique around the edge, and they both were from the turn of the last century, the Art Nouveau era--about the same time as this ring was probably created.
