    Description

    Up for auction is a gorgeous covered Milk Jug #103D by Lunt Silversmiths of Greenfield, MA in excellent condition with no dings or scratches. It measures about 6 3/4" to the top of the finial on the lid and about 5 5/8" from one edge of the handle to the tip of the spout. From an old Lunt ad, " Strange as it may seem, the small cream pitcher which we know today did not exist much before 1720. To hold milk or cream a "jug" was used. Apparently they were not made in great numbers although they could be styled attractively as shown here. Today this piece may still be used for its origianal purpose, or as a small but appropriate hot beverage server. Geoorgian in style. Height: 7 inches. Capacity: 1 pint." It weighs 12 1/2 oz.
