PAIR of ANTIQUE 14K GOLD FINELY CARVED SHELL CAMEOS & CAMEO SNAKE CLASP c1820
A pair of antique solid 14 carat gold (tests thereabouts) slides, each holding finely hand carved natural shell cameos depicting a classical god & goddess riding on horse drawn chariots across the skies (probably Eos / Aurora & Helios / Apollo), held together by a central clasp (probably intended for a cloak), the hooks modelled as snakes / birds and set with a further carved shell cameo of a classical figure.
Stunning carvings in fabulous mounts...so collectible & wearable too!
CONDITION
: All original and very, very good. Slightest signs of wear commensurate with age and use.

: None.
DATE/MARKS
: Around 1820/30. French? gold marks.
DIMENSIONS
: Approx. 3.75 inches long overall (1 inch = 25.4 mm). To give an impression of scale, the coin is 19 mm or ¾ of an inch diameter.
WEIGHT
: Approx. 9.1 grams.
