NEAR-GEM from Thailand.
.  Collected by trawling in 100-150 meters of water, off Phuket Island, Thailand, from an old collection.  The number of super-rare shells that have become available since I started collecting in the 60's is amazing---the milneedwardsi and the bengalensis cones being the two biggest changes.  Those two cones went from being so scarce they were rarely found in museums, (much less personal collections) to being beauties that
just about anyone can own now---I mean, they used to be so rare, they were almost
never
included in shell collecting books, amazing!
.  And this shell, a fabulous beauty---with a gorgeous pattern, intact spire, an almost perfectly smooth body (one small, hard to find repair on the shoulder) and
a great lip is a

As for normal disclaimers, we do the best we can with photos, but color is tricky, especially since cell phone cameras automatically lean towards flesh-tone coloring, (that's why so many of the photos of shells on eBay show up with more orange than is really there, the camera changes the color, and damm if I can figure out how to stop that from happening, but I try, honest!
