    Description

    For sale are these
    aesthetically pleasing uncommon acorn
tongs about 200 years old.  They are in good condition.  Length is 5 5/8 inches.  The existing marks are the sterling lion and a duty mark used in London between 1786 and 1823.  The maker's mark is not very legible but the style of letters was frequently used in the 18th century.   It appears that the monogram at the curve end of the tongs was removed.
