As you may know, Brimley was a spokesperson for Quaker Oats and in the commercial is seen with both a box of Old Fashioned Quaker Oats and the One Minute Quaker Oats Box.  The Oatmeal Box that he
autographed
and is for sale here is brand new and unopened.  By "brand new, we mean that this Quaker Oats Qatmeal Box was purchased on October 25, 2019, at a CVS that was near the Chiller Convention where Brimley was appearing.  It was then brought to the October 26, 2019, Chiller Expo Convention in Parsippany, New Jersey, where the owner met with Wilfred Brimley (see photo number 12) and had him sign this Oatmeal Box.
And yes, that is my buddy dressed up as "Gilligan", from the old show

Sadly, Wilfred Brimley passed away on August 1, 2020, at the age of 85.
Brimley was in many movies, but of course for me my favorite movie with Brimley was 1982 John Carpenter's THE THING.  In that movie which had a superior cast, Brimley played "Blair", a Doctor who was (one of) the first to recognize that THE THING could duplicate humans perfectly that it infected.   According to Wikipedia, Brimley was chosen for the "Blair" role by Carpenter and the Team because..

Brimley had been in other films prior to 1982, most notably - for me - ABSENCE OF MALICE with Paul Newman, BRUBAKER with Robert Redford, and THE CHINA SYNDROME with Jack Lemmon, although each role in these movies was not a major role.  That said, whenever he appeared on screen, Brimley commanded attention and (for me) stole the show for the time he was on screen.   An incredible "character" actor.
We believe that
