"The Visitors" Antique Print Series De La Cruz Signed

Description

This is a unique horizontal format paper collage work using an original antique photogravure. It is from the “Antique Print Series” of American artist Jerry De La Cruz (b 1948, Denver, CO). The image itself is 8” high by 12.25” wide and is mounted on thick, 100% rag paper. The subject begins with the original photogravure image of an 18th century fisherman’s wife with her young son peering over a seawall into a stormy sea with saves crashing against rocks. To this has been added a collaged image of a contemporary astronaut in full gear along with a drawing of a spacecraft flying out of the picture plane. The palette is all gray tones save for the bits of color on the astronaut’s outfit. The work is titled “The Visitors.” It is in pristine condition and signed front lower right side by the artist.
