"The Way of the Hunter" an Embossment by NM Artist Ed Morgan

Embossed Print by artist Ed Morgan of Taos, NM. Ed used a very involved process to create this finely detailed work. After the initial drawing, the image is hand engraved into a metal plate. The mastery of this art (engraving) is revealed in the minute detail of each bead, feather, hide texture, etc. which is individually engraved in to the plate. All of the engraving must be done in reverse, creating a counter (female) plate. From this point, a highly complex series of steps is required to produce the image on 100% rag paper. This process includes embossing the image with heat and pressure, layers of hand watercolor, applcations of pieces of silk and 22 karat gold leaf. The finished impression from initial drawing to the fine detail embossed engraving, can take up to two years to complete. Each impression resulting from this unique hands-on process was executed exclusively by Ed Morgan.
