    Description

This is a unique paper collage work using original antique photogravures. It is from the “Antique Print Series” of American artist Jerry De La Cruz (b 1948, Denver, CO). The image itself is 11.5” high by 10” wide. This is mounted on thick, 100% rag paper. The subject is a surreal scene created of 18th century peasant women washing clothes in a field. Many of them are walking with their wash baskets over their heads. In front of this scene a large group of sheep are milling about. Behind it are rows of multistory urban buildings from the 18th century.  The palette is monochrome, limited to the gray tones of the original photogravures. The work is titled “Wash Day.” It is in pristine condition and signed front lower right by De La Cruz. (Image of framed work for sizing perspective only.)
